According to him, the first step towards this was taken back in 2018, when backup natural gas supply schemes were formed in accordance with the distribution area in order to fulfill the safety directive. "For this, we use natural gas distribution planning according to high, medium and low pressure. Then we group according to the typology of settlements, consumer categories (domestic, non-domestic, industrial, consumers with backup types of power supply)," said Kolisnyk.
He explained how the gas distribution mechanism works in case of a local or national level of danger. According to him, first energy companies limit, that is, reduce the pressure in the system, and then localize the consequences. "If there is a damage to some element of the system - a linear part, a distribution system, a power distribution system - we respond in terms of rapid recovery, while controlling the pressure in the distribution zone.
Unfortunately, during the hostilities, the enemy has already inflicted a number of such blows, and we have in practice developed scenarios on how to maintain the supply of natural gas to populated areas despite the fact that there is a depressurization and damage to the main object, by balancing the system," — explained the government official.
Regarding the probability of disconnection of gas supply for domestic consumers in the event of a shortage, Mykola Kolisnyk noted that the population is included in the last round of restrictive measures. "The population is a guaranteed consumer in terms of security," he explained. The government official noted that the reliability of providing the population with gas depends on the number of points of its supply from high-pressure pipes to the city or village.
