SOVER system: Russia modifies its tanks T-90m "Breakthrough" (photo)

The sapper complex is designed to create safe passages in minefields. Additionally, the tank is equipped with magnetic emitters that affect mines, activating them from a safe distance. In the face of a continuous war in Ukraine, Russian weapons are forced to resort to modification of armored vehicles to improve its efficiency in the conditions of intensive mine barriers.

One of these decisions was the equipment of the battle tank T-90m "Breakthrough" by the Sapper System, which was demonstrated at the exhibition "Army 2024". About it writes Defensa. It is noted that the T-90M tank, which is one of the most modern samples of Russian armored vehicles, has acquired new abilities after recent modernization that make it a key element in the breakthrough of the defensive boundaries of the enemy.

Along with its standard weapons and armor, a version of the tank equipped with a sapper system for clearing mine fields was presented at the exhibition. It is a "sapper" complex, which are designed to create a safe passage in the fields where the enemy has installed anti -tank mines by mechanical impact that creates detonating pressure. This system covers the front complex with chains and rollers intended for detonation of mines before the tank, minimizing the threat to the main equipment.

Additionally, the tank is equipped with magnetic emitters that affect mines, activating them from a safe distance. If mines do not work on the influence of the magnetic field, heavy metal cats that press on the soil enter into operation, destroying inactive explosive devices. Experts emphasize that the decision to equip the T-90m sapper system instead of applying such modifications on old tanks may seem unexpected, but it has a strategic justification.

In hostilities in Ukraine, where mine barriers are widely used to protect positions, effective and rapid clearing of passages becomes a critical task. And T-90m, thanks to its characteristics, is able not only to withstand the strict conditions of combat, but also to quickly create safe passages for other parts, ensuring successful promotion of troops. We will remind, in May in the territory of Ukraine the newest Russian tank T-90m "Breakthrough", equipped with additional armored plates.
